Ignorant beings are not able to recognise the Supreme within those who have realised Him. On the other hand, a realised Mahatma is a man of knowledge, perceiving the existence of the Supreme in all beings and creatures. A realised individual is able to behold the underlying unity of existence in all names and forms.

It is said that the divine protection of the Supreme being is assured to all those who take refuge in Him. Whatever path one may follow, the ultimate goal is to attain Him. Therefore, He is the goal of the various methods of spiritual practice. Devotion, Sri Krishna emphasises, is the essence of all spiritual discipline. If this supreme element is present, then the devotee is freed from bondage. It is the motive and degree of devotion that matters. Even the most unrighteous and wicked person, if he takes a radical turn towards the path of righteousness and truth, reaches the Supreme. Irrespective of the vocation one follows, one can attain the Supreme being if one seeks earnestly and with loving devotion. Fixing the mind on the Supreme and dedicating everything (one’s body, mind, actions, emotion and will) to Him is the key.<ref name=":0" />
