=== Marriage is about Compatibility ===

Marriage is best and leads to happiness when the couple share compatible attributes. Marriage due to compassion or due to respect for others is not of the best kind, if without compatibility. Certainly, it cannot guarantee a stable living. The law of nature is fire burns. The laws never change their working. Similarly there are laws that govern compatibility. One has to learn to respect the law and also oneself. An acceptance of marriage proposal to satisfy some superior or due to confusion may lead one to bear the consequences later. For Gandhari, the marriage was a result of political alliance. As a cultured and chaste lady she embraced all consequences, that is to her glory. But the reality is that she had to face situations, which were not so good.

=== Over-Protection does not protect ==
 +
Motherly nature is a woman's great strength. But sometimes her strength can be manipulated by her loved ones. So there is disadvantage to one's good side also. People may take her for granted and neglect her. This will surely result in feeling of isolation and that everyone used me. Being idealistic and not realistic has its dark sides. What to speak of appreciating, people tend to exploit the love of their loved one's without remorse.

Although Gandhari was not in favor of Kauravas' wrong-doings, yet as a mother her over protection towards her sons had lead her to become narrow minded at times. She did not want her son Duryodhana to loose. That is why she also tried to make him invincible by her empowered glance. Her determination made her stubborn. She even cursed Krishna.

=== Speaking it Rightly and Timely ===
 +
Gandhari was a very good woman but made few mistakes in her life. She accused Krishna of not preventing the war and cursed him. Also, out of envy towards Kunti, she struck her own womb. Karma is not connected just with how big the act is. It is connected with the timing of the act also. That is how the consequences are determined. In this case, the consequence was that, her act consumed the entire dynasty.

When she heard that Kunti already gave birth, she was surcharged with unlimited envy and struck her belly. It was just not striking the belly but in the process she made envy the samskara of Duryodhana. It is very difficult to change the samskaras that have been brought about during pregnancy. Small act at a crucial junction can cause a lifetime impact.

When Gandhari heard that all her hundred sons were slaughtered, she was very angry and ready to curse Pandavas. Vyasadev realized this and went to her before the Pandavas arrived. He told her that your sons lost life because of their own misdeeds and you have always known that. Thus, speaking the right thing at the right place is very important.

=== Balancing suffering and happiness ===
 +
Too much of either suffering or happiness becomes a uncarriable burden to anyone, no matter how powerful one is. It causes one to break down after a certain period of time. Gandhari could have sent Shakuni away but did not even though she was seeing all the bad effects. In good things, one should not worry about the result and keep trying to do good things. Even if one fails the intentions will be taken seriously. Gandhari kept ignoring and the consequences were building and the reaction came in the form of a battle. Krishna also warned but they did not listen to him.
