According to the ''[[Vishnu Purana]]'' and ''[[Bhagavata Purana]]'', Brihadbala is a [[Genealogy of Rama|descendant of Rama]] on [[Kusha (Ramayana)|Kusha]]'s side, and belongs to the [[Ikshvaku dynasty]]. The ''[[Mahabharata]]'' describes Brihadbala as the ruler of [[Kosala Kingdom|Kingdom of Kosala]].
