Acharya Charaka has called a set of gunas by the name of first and last guna in it. The first is Buddhi and the last in sequence in Prayatna. These are total 6 in number. In Tarka samgraha based on Nyaya and Vaisheshika darshanas these gunas are called as Adhyatmika gunas since those are related to the [[Atman (आत्मन्)|Atman]] i.e. life energy and capable of independently bringing about some karma (action or activity). Those are described in brief hereafter. | Acharya Charaka has called a set of gunas by the name of first and last guna in it. The first is Buddhi and the last in sequence in Prayatna.
