Garuda (Samskrit : गरुडः) is the son of Rshi Kashyapa and his wife Vinata. Aruna, the charioteer of the Sun, is said to be his elder brother. Considered as sovereign of the feathered race, Garuda is generally represented, as being something between a man and a bird.
