Shabdakalpadruma : ब्रह्माण्डमध्ये यः परिधिः स आकाशकक्ष्या । तन्मध्ये परावह-परिवह-सुवह-सम्वहोद्वहाख्यानां पञ्चानां वायूनां स्थानानि अधोऽधःक्रमेण सन्ति । [1]
Indra is also described as Marutvaan and according to the legend in Vayupurana (Uttarartha, Adhyaya 6)[2], Maruts are Vaayus or air pervading devatas. The names of the 7 वातस्कन्धाः and their places of movement are given in this purana.
पृथिव्यां प्रथमस्कन्धो द्वितीयश्चैव भास्करे। सोमे तृतीयो विज्ञेयश्चतुर्थो ज्योतिषां गणे ।। ६.१११ ।। (Vayu. Pura. Utta. 6.111)
ग्रहेषु पञ्चमश्चैव षष्ठः सप्तर्षिमण्डले। ध्रुवे तु सप्तमश्चैव वातस्कन्धः परस्तु सः ।। ६.११२ ।। (Vayu. Pura. Utta. 6.112)
- आवहः || Aavaha : पृथिव्यां प्रथमस्कन्धो (earth)
- प्रवहः || Pravaha : द्वितीयश्चैव भास्करे (surya mandala)
- उद्वहः || Udvaha : सोमे तृतीयः (chandra mandala)
- सुवहः || Suvaha: चतुर्थो ज्योतिषां गणे (heavenly bodies)
- विवहः || Vivaha : ग्रहेषु पञ्चमः (planets)
- परावहः || Paravaha : षष्ठः सप्तर्षिमण्डले (Constellation of Seven Rishis)
- परिवहः || Parivaha : ध्रुवे तु सप्तमः (Dhruva mandala)
