Some धातुऽ will take an insertion of इट् (इ ) between धातु and प्रत्यय for some प्रत्ययऽ, no impact on the meaning. The धातुऽ that can take the इट् are classified as सेट्, the धातुऽ that take इट् optionally as वेट्, and that do not take are अनिट्.

सेट् The धातुऽ that take इट्. Eg: भू पठँ वदिँ

वेट् The धातुऽ that take इट् optionally. त्रपूँष् गुपृूँ मृजूँ

अनिट् The धातुऽ that does not take इट्. डुकृञ् गमॢँ भजँ पा

The धातुऽ take this इट् insertion when there comes an आर्धधातुक-प्रत्यय (except तिङ् in some लकारऽ, शित्) which is वल्-आदि .

सेट् भू + तुमुँन् => भवितुम् , पठँ + क्त => पठित , वदिँ + तृच् => वन्दितृ

वेट् त्रपूँष् + तुमुँन् => त्रप्तुम् / त्रपितुम् , गुपूँ+ क्त्वा => गोपित्वा / गुप्त्वा , मृजूँ- मार्ष्टुम्/मार्जितुम्

अनिट् डुकृञ् + तुमुन्=> कर्तुम्, गमॢँ+ तव्य => गन्तव्य , भजँ + क्त = भक्त , पा + तुमुँन= पातुम्
