Dr. K S Narayanacharya, reverentially referred to as Ramayanacharya, Mahabharatacharya and Pravachana Kalanidhi by his discourse audiences all over Bharata, left to the divine abode on Friday, the 26th of November, 2021 completing 88 years of his journey in practising and propagating the essence of Sanatana Dharma.

Born in a Vaidika Sri Vaishnava family in 1933, Dr. K. S. Narayanacharya was educated in Mysore earning a BSc (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics), B.A. (Honours) English, and M.A. (Modern English Literature). His doctoral thesis was on "The Influence of Indian thought on the poetry of W.B. Yeats and T.S. Eliot".

He had studied the Krishna Yajurveda under the guidance of masters like Dandavati Siva Dixit Somayaji of Dharwad, where he worked as Professor of English literature for over 32 years at the Karnataka Arts College until he retired in 1993. He was the recipient of many titles like VidwanMani, Valmiki Hridayajna, Veda Bhooshana, Gamaka Ratnakara, Karnataka Kalashri, Upanyasa Kesari, etc. conferred on him by revered Acharyas as well as the State.

Music, Indology and poetry were among the interests of Dr. Narayanacharya who was well-versed in English, Kannada, Sanskrit and Tamil and delivered discourses and lectures all over India. He is the author of over 70 works in Kannada and English on varied subjects including the Vedas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavata, the Hymns of Alwars, Vedanta, Haridasa literature, D.R. Bendre and Kautilya. His series of books on Veda Samskriti Parichaya, Ramayana Patra Prapancha, Sri Mahabharata Patra Prapancha, Dashavatara, etc are a few of his immortal works.
